Financial Reporting and Consolidation Manager
Purpose of Position:
- US and Japan GAAP Financial Reporting and Analysis
- US and Japan GAAP Consolidation
- IPO preparation in Japan Market (External disclosures, external Audit management, process design and implementation)

Jobs and Responsibilities:
1. US and Japan GAAP Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Drive adherence to local and the firm Global Financial Governance policies in order to maintain accurate financial reporting and effective financial accounting processes.
- Drive all financial reporting analysis, such as the monthly balance sheet review, quarterly corporate financial reviews and other analysis for presentation and review to the market Controller, CFO and CEO.
- Partner with the Director - Financial Reporting and Consolidation to ensure timely delivery of all reporting request including, but not limited to, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting, monthly financial package reporting and account reconciliation review reporting.
- Analyzes company’s financial risks and potential exposure through rigorous review of the financials and address any potential impacts to the company’s financial performance; supervise analyses to drive financial performance by identifying new opportunities through business intelligence and analysis; providing insight into operational and financial historical and prospective trends.
- Collaborate and liaise with cross-functional teams, in particular Japan Finance Planning & Analysis team (FP&A), to ensure the appropriate period end financial close process is completed effectively and in an effective manner.
- Partner with the Director - Financial Reporting and Consolidation to lead statutory audit and local statistics reporting to ensure full compliance with no delay.
- Partner with the Director - Financial Reporting and Consolidation to liaise with both internal and external auditors to resolve issues related to financial reporting and controls
- Oversee and enhance accounting reconciliation process and quality throughout the organization.
- Drive improvement related business objectives and internal customer needs (specifically, but not limited to, the area of real estate), implementing new business strategies and plans, and evaluating operational processes. Further promote a customer-focused environment while ensuring strict compliance with applicable accounting standards and Global policies.
2. US and Japan GAAP Financial Consolidation
- Support Japan Controllership Consolidations team in ensuring that the firm and underlying financial transactions are recorded in an effective, accurate, and timely manner in accordance with all local statute and relevant GAAP (Japan and US) pronouncements.
- Support Japan Controllership Consolidations team in the production and delivery of the monthly U.S. and Japan GAAP financial statements, ensuring they are performed in a timely, effective, accurate, and efficient manner to meet all reporting deliverables.
- Support Japan Controllership Consolidations team in the closing of subsidiary financial reporting and that all underlying financial transactions are recorded in an effective, accurate, and timely manner in accordance with all local statute and relevant GAAP (Japan and US) pronouncements.
- Support Japan Controllership team and liaise with subsidiary and the company accounting teams to ensure the appropriate period end financial close process is completed effectively and in an effective manner.
3. IPO Preparation in Japan Market
- Work with external auditors in establishing and managing a timely audit required under Japan regulations upon and post IPO
- Work and manage internal teams, external consultants and external auditors to draft public disclosures and to establish thorough review processes. Also work with Global Controllership in understanding global requirements, and adopting best in class practice.
- Understand new requirements under IPO (e.g. Related Party Transactions, Management representation letters) and work with Director – Financial Reporting and Consolidation to design and establish such processes, while working with local management upon adoption
4. Accounting Policies
- Understand the company accounting policy and oversee market accounting policy lead (technical lead).
- Market technical lead to ensure local practices are in line with the company accounting policy and properly documented.
- Understand US and Japan GAAP and impact on retail business as market technical lead and partnering with regional technical leads.
- Market technical lead to review, or document, draft policies submitted for review by Corporate.
- Market technical lead responsible to understand local, and other, statutory policy changes as they arise.
- Market technical lead to ensure local business is made aware of upcoming policy changes and impact is accurately forecasted.
- Understand, draft and ensure JGAAP accounting policies are properly being adopted upon IPO
Job Requirements:
- US GAAP knowledge
- Japan GAAP and public company disclosure knowledge
Job Preferences:
- US CPA, Japan CPA or charted accountant
- Business level English and Japanese
- Accounting/Controllership experience, preferably in a fortune 500 corporation overseen by a US parent company, or in a Japanese public company as manager or above
- Public audit experience; preferably with clients who are overseen by a US parent company
